About The Jared Hall Quartet:

The Jared Hall Quartet features original compositions & arranged classics.  Hall's music explores joyous swing, romantic poignancy, probing angularity, and yearning introspection.

The quartet’s performance will include music from hall’s albums “Seen on the Scene” (Origin Records, 2021) and “Hallways” (Hollistic MusicWorks, 2017).  Hall’s third album as a band leader, releasing in early 2024, features the musicianship of this quartet with all new original compositions.

Jared Hall

Trumpeter, composer and educator Jared Hall hails from Spokane, Washington.  Hall is the winner of the 2013 National Trumpet Competition – Jazz Division, and has performed and recorded with Paquito D’Rivera, Bob Hurst, Arturo Sandoval, Maria Schneider, Vincent Herring, Peter Erskine, Dave Liebman, Alan Pasqua, Brian Lynch, Ira Sullivan, Jeff “Tain” Watts, and Terence Blanchard.  Hall performed in Seattle from 2015 to 2022 with the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, Symphony Tacoma, the 5th Avenue Theatre, and many of the region's outstanding ensembles. His quintet performed regularly at Tula’s Jazz Club, the 2018 Gene Harris Jazz Festival, 2019 Puget Sound Jazz Combo Festival, 2021 Bellevue Jazz Festival, and 2023 Leavenworth Jazz Festival. 

Meet the band

Tal Cohen

Tal Cohen is a Grammy-award winning jazz pianist currently located in Miami.  He won the Barry Harris National Piano Competition and was the recipient of the prestigious Freedman Fellowship, performing at the Sydney Opera House.  Recently, Tal Cohen has been playing around the Globe with Terence Blanchard, Greg Osby, Ignacio Berroa, Joe Lovano, and others. He currently leads his own ensemble which has performed at Iconic jazz festivals and venues that include Jazzbez Jazz Festival (Ukraine), Detroit Jazz Festival, Melbourne Jazz Festival (Australia), a three-week residency at the Black Cat (San Fransisco).  

Michael Glynn

Top Seattle bassist Michael Glynn has performed with jazz legends Bud Shank, Jon Hendricks, Bobby Shew, Mark Levine, Dave Grusin, Geoffrey Keezer, Seamus Blake, Eric Alexander, David Hazeltine, Benny Green, Gary Smulyan, Don Lanphere, Conte Candoli, Bob Florence, Doug Lawrence, William Parker, Kevin Hays, Kim Richmond, Aaron Parks, Madeline Eastman, Dena DeRose, and the Cab Calloway Orchestra.  Michael has performed around the United States and in Canada, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Oman, and Trinidad and Tobago.

John Bishop

As a drummer, educator, record label owner, graphic designer, and festival presenter, John Bishop has been one of the primary voices in Northwest Jazz for 40 years. He has performed in concerts and clubs with Lee Konitz, Slide Hampton, Benny Golson, Bobby Hutcherson, Ernestine Anderson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Sonny Fortune, Herb Ellis, Gary Peacock, Buddy DeFranco, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, and countless others. He’s appeared on more than 100 albums, including sessions with Hal Galper, Larry Coryell, Ernie Watts, Mark Murphy, Joe Locke, Bud Shank, George Cables, Ralph Towner, Teo Macero, and Jerry Bergonzi. He was inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame in 2008 and was named a “Jazz Hero” by the Jazz Journalists Association in 2019.
